...it's a cat!
"A new baby is like the beginning of all things-wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities."
-Eda J. Le Shan
It feels weird. It is very weird and awkward when your brainchild is being born. Believing in something that was absolutely unheard of until you decided to make it exist is very uncomfortable, nerve wrecking, calls for a few moments of embarrassment but all-in-all it is the definition of excitement. Here is my story:
"It was a dark and stormy night..."(not really)
Honestly, there is no supernatural background to my story (or anything else that I do, but that is a story for another day). I really envy all the people who receive signs, experience epiphanies and then wake up to "wow" the world with their billion-dollar ideas.
The past few years have been quite tough for publishers who make digital magazines. Platforms have been rearranged (Apple newsstand is gone), online marketing is becoming the 'it thing' but the figures are still not looking good. Readers are still not migrating over to the vast majority of mobile editions. And here I am, diving into the shark tank headfirst. Here's why:
The digital publication industry is practically still a baby. This should come as no surprise considering that when it was born it was the same birth year of the modern tablet industry. What we are witnessing is the beginning of a new form of communication and I believe that it might still be a bit early to speculate the path of it's evolution.
When the pendulum that is my mind finally stopped going back and forth, I decided to create this blog. But I had nothing...no advertisers, no articles, no ideas-nothing!
That cat on the front page is an embodiment of the sentimentality that I have attached to this journey that I am about to begin.
I wonder what this journey beholds, I hope that I will enjoy it and I just can't stop dreaming of all the possibilities ahead.
Here is one more good baby quote:
"Making the decision to have a child (or brainchild) is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart walking around outside your body."
-Elizabeth Stone
Well, here's my heart baby.
Here kitty kitty kitty...!
